Nehru and Gandhi might have seen a dream, which was ideal but maybe not practical. The events happening now clear show that Jinnah's two-nation theory was more apt that Gandhi's secular dream. It's time, India decides if it wants to be a secular soft state or be a Hindu state with respect and rights for minorities. That might atleast stop the vote bank politics and allow the state to act with iron fist on whoever hurts nation's citizens, the criminal be majority or minority. The secular soft state has now become like a soft couch with needles inside it. It looks great from outside but is extremely tough to sleep on it comfortably. US and UK have shown that a nation can be liberal and secular even without announcing itself as a secular state.
