The cat is out of the bag. While nobody can justify riots and killings, few people went overboard in talking about 2002 post Godhra riots. No, I am not saying this. The Special Investigative Team which owes no allegiance to Gujarat Government is saying this.
The SIT team on 13th April said that Teesta and few other NGOs raked up false cases, tutored witnesses and more. The SIT has found no truth in atleast 3 high profile cases inclluding the alleged rape and foetus killing of Kausar Bano.
Whether this was to shame Gujarat government or to fill their own pockets can be anybody's guess.
This brings us to the larger question. Should not likes of Teesta be brought to books and punished for playing with the law of the land. It is sad that the so-called activists and guardians of Indian democracy and secularism stoop so low to fulfill their political, professional and financial greed.

We all know how good the commissions set up by various governments are. Laloo's commission says that Godhra was an accident. SIT says that Teesta cooked up stories. The truth is that these independent officers will do what their political masters want. Post Godhra Gujarat government didnot conduct itself in a way that it should have. It allowed the bloodshed and innocent people to be butchered on the streets. What happened in Godhra was wrong. The government should have investigated immediately and punished the culprits of that crime. Government did nothing to stop the genocide.
